Touch screen colour LCD with new touch features

•	Face detection, Touch & Track, Touch focus and touch exposure functions use screen touch operation to replace the operations previously carried out via a joystick. This ensures that users not miss any shooting opportunities and have unrestricted choice of subject composition.

Relay recording

•	When the built-in memory becomes full, the camcorder automatically switches to SD / SDHC cards as the recording media. No need to worry about missing the action when media is switched.

Smart Auto mode

The camcorder automatically recognizes what kind of scenes and subjects you're shooting based on the presence of people, the distance to subjects, and brightness, color, motion information. The advanced auto shooting mode function entrust detailed settings to the camcorder, similar to the shooting modes already available in Canon’s range of PowerShot & Digital IXUS cameras.

Down-conversion to standard definition (convert HD to SD)

•	Convert HD videos to Standard definition (SD) directly from the camcorder itself. The resulting SD videos can be burned directly to DVD or uploaded to the internet.

Video snapshot mode recording duration & external sound source linkup playback

Each time the Record button is pressed, a 4 seconds clip is captured. Simply add your clips to a playlist, select a soundtrack, and you’re instantly ready to watch your movie on a TV – no need for editing. New video snapshot recording length of 2, 4, or 8 seconds has been added to the video snapshot mode. The new Legria camcorders have a new function which controls the playback and stopping of video snapshots while working in tandem with an external sound source (music player).

Colour options

•	DIGIC DV III supports x.v.Color – for deeper, richer hues when movies are played back on compatible HD TVs. 25p Cinema Mode matches the look of traditional film, and provides enhanced low-light shooting performance.

Still shooting

•	A dedicated Photo mode allows users to capture high resolution still images, up to 3.11MP. In Dual Shot mode, 2.99MP stills can be shot during video recording. Photo Burst grabs 25 stills from a single second of recorded footage.

Software

•	For simple editing and sharing, PIXELATM software is supplied. DVDs are easy to burn at the touch a button with Canon’s DW-100 DVD Burner (available separately). New PIXELA™ software allows direct to web video uploading, allowing users to share video online easily.

Sounding good

•	Record superior audio via a microphone input and monitor levels via the headphone jack. Manual audio control offers even more options.

Flexible options

•	With a mini Advanced Accessory Shoe, attach a range of optional peripherals – such as a microphone or a video light. A 5.1-channel surround sound external microphone SM-V1 is available that allows 5.1-channel sound recording on Canon Legria Camcorders.
