Canon EF50mm f/1.8 II

An orthodox 6-element, 5-group construction allows high image quality and natural expressiveness throughout the entire focusing range from infinity to the closest focusing distance of 0.45m/1.58ft. A simple cam-type drive is used in the focusing system, providing quick, quiet autofocusing and achieving a light weight of 130g/4.6oz. Neutral color balance achieves color reproduction that is nearly identical with the ISO recommended values. And with a price that won’t break the bank, the fun of a single focal length lens with a different attitude from a standard zoom lens is available to everyone.

Good Buy - value for money - Thanks Letsbuy Pros: - Huge aperture - Sharpness at f/5 comparable to expensive L lenses - Extremely light weight - Recessed glass, making it less chance to scratches Cons: - Not very sharp in the corners at f/1.8 (though still better than the kit 18-55mm f/3.5-f/5.6 lens) - Build quality is super cheap, though it being an inexpensive lens, I can always buy another one if I damage mine - No IS, but large apertures don't require stabilization Conclusion: One of my favorite Canon lenses. I usually carry this and my 24-70 f/2.8L 9 January, 2012
