Canon redefines the boundaries of excellence with the Canon EOS 550D. The DSLR comes with a newly-developed 18 Megapixel (MP), APS-C CMOS sensor, advanced DIGIC 4 image processor and the ability to shoot Full HD movies. The camera records video in full 1920x1080p HD resolution, letting the photographers to select the frame rate from 30, 25 and 24fps, as well as offering 720p video at 60 and 50fps. The DSLR also allows you to set ‘highlight tone priority’ (HTP) for movie capture mode, without making any changes in the still image capture settings.

The built-in camera noise-reduction technology boosts performance in low light conditions. And its 14-bit image processing produces smoother tonal gradation and natural looking colours. The camera also supports an ISO sensitivity range of 100-6400 (expandable up to 12800).

The EOS 550D sports a 7.7cm Clear View LCD screen with 1,040k dot resolution. The screen is anti-reflective and also comes with water-repellent coating for easy view in bright conditions and a variety of angles. it is compatible with all Canon EF and EF-S lenses.

The EOS 550D features a 9-point AF system for f/2.8 or faster lenses. At 3.7 frames per second, it also supports high-speed continuous shooting to help users capture split-second moments with ease and accuracy. Other additional features include the iFCL metering system and the Movie Crop function that records with the central 640x480 pixel area of the sensor, creating an magnification of approximately seven times. The camera also features bigger and better intuitive buttons on the battery grip, allowing aperture settings to be changed and that too without having to reorient the body when shooting with the camera in a vertical position.
